Open the link the organiser shared. The screen greets you with You’ve been invited to split “[name]” bill.
  1. Tap the avatar, or Change avatar, until you get a face you like.
  2. Type your name under Enter your name. Everyone in the split will see it.
  3. Tap Continue with name.
No account and no app are needed — you join straight from the browser. If you’d rather have a finerd account, Continue with Google signs you in and joins in one step; already signed in, the button reads Join.
If you land on This link is no longer active, the split is gone from your side — the organiser deleted it, or you were removed from it. Ask the organiser to send you a new one.

Take your shares

You’ll see the whole receipt under Tap your items. Tap an item to claim it. Every item is divided into Shares. A single-share line is all-or-nothing: tap it and it’s yours. A line with more shares can hold several people: a four-share bottle of wine tapped by four people costs each of you a quarter. The card keeps showing the bottle’s full price — open the item to see the price per share. Take more than one share of the same line if you had more than one. Took a share by mistake? Give back a share puts it back.

Adjust the receipt

The scan isn’t always perfect, and you don’t have to wait for the organiser to fix it. Open an item to correct its Item name or Price, or change how many Shares it splits into — you can’t set that below the number of shares people have already taken. Missing tax or a service charge? Add service. A line that isn’t on the receipt at all can go: the bin on the item asks Delete [name]? and warns that everything people picked on it goes too. You can add participants too — Add guest covers someone at the table who isn’t picking on their own phone, and you can then tap items for them. Tap a person and then the pencil to open Name and avatar, where you can fix a typo in your own name or theirs, or hit Change avatar.
Only the organiser can delete a receipt or the whole CheckPie. Everything else on the screen is open to everyone in the split.

See what you owe

Your total adds up the shares you took plus your proportional slice of every service. Below it, You owe [name] shows who to pay and how much — often just one person, because finerd nets everyone’s shares and payments down to the fewest transfers. The banner under the items counts what’s still open — [n] items left to claim — and Jump to unassigned jumps to the first unclaimed line. Those amounts belong to nobody until someone takes them. Everything updates live. When the organiser fixes a price or someone else takes a share, you see it without reloading.

Leaving

Leave the checkpie takes you out, and the link still works afterwards — but coming back isn’t the same as picking up where you left off. If you joined as a guest, your picks and payments leave with you and you return as a new person with nothing claimed. If you’re signed in to finerd, they stay behind on a placeholder in your name, so the rest of the table isn’t disturbed. When you’re ready to pay your share, head to Settle up.
