Bring your Saldo data into Finerd by connecting both apps to ChatGPT, then letting the built-in playbook run the migration for you.

Before you start

  • Use ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com) — not the mobile app. Custom MCP apps are set up in the browser. On your phone, open chatgpt.com in a browser, sign in to the same account, and continue there.
  • You need a plan that supports developer mode and custom MCP apps (Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise). On Business/Enterprise, a workspace admin may need to enable it first.
  • Have your Finerd account and your existing Saldo account ready to sign in.

Turn on developer mode

Custom MCP apps live behind developer mode:
  1. Open Settings → Security and login.
  2. Turn on Developer mode.
Labels vary by ChatGPT plan and interface version. If it isn’t under Security and login, check Settings → Apps → Advanced settings, or (on Business/Enterprise) Workspace settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected data, where an admin may control it.

Step 1 — Add the Saldo app

  1. Open Settings → Plugins (or go to chatgpt.com/plugins).
  2. Click the + button and choose to create a developer-mode app.
  3. Name: Saldo
  4. MCP server URL: https://api.saldoapps.com/mcp
  5. Click Create. If a Scan Tools button appears, click it and wait; if not, just create.
  6. Complete Saldo sign-in if it opens.

Step 2 — Add the Finerd app

  1. In Settings → Plugins, click + again and create another developer-mode app.
  2. Name: Finerd
  3. MCP server URL: https://api.finerd.ai/mcp
  4. Click Create, then sign in with your Finerd account.
When you sign in to Finerd, choose Read & Write access — you pick this on Finerd’s own sign-in screen. The migration needs it to create your data in Finerd; with Read-only it can read but not write, so it won’t finish. If you chose Read-only by mistake, reconnect Finerd and switch.

Step 3 — Run the migration

  1. Open a new chat. Next to the message box, click + (then More, if shown) and enable both the Saldo and Finerd apps for this chat — a new app isn’t automatically available in an already-open chat.
  2. Ask ChatGPT: “Help me migrate my data from Saldo to Finerd.” (ChatGPT runs get_finerd_skill("saldo_migration"), which loads the full migration playbook.)
  3. ChatGPT checks that both apps’ tools are available, then starts the guided migration.
  4. Follow ChatGPT’s steps. It shows a 4-step tracker — connect Saldo, connect Finerd, add the apps to the chat & verify tools, run migration — and gives you one action at a time.
You don’t need to run any tools yourself. ChatGPT runs the migration playbook for you — your job is to add the two apps, enable them in the chat, and answer its prompts.

Troubleshooting

  • ChatGPT can’t see an app’s tools — it may not be added to this chat. Click + next to the message box and enable Saldo and Finerd; if needed, refresh the page or start a new chat. Check the URLs are exactly https://api.saldoapps.com/mcp (Saldo) and https://api.finerd.ai/mcp (Finerd).
  • The migration won’t create anything in Finerd — you’re most likely connected as Read-only. Reconnect Finerd and choose Read & Write.
  • “get_finerd_skill not found” — the Finerd app isn’t fully connected. Open it in Settings → Plugins and Refresh its tools, or remove it and add it again with the URL https://api.finerd.ai/mcp.
  • No developer mode / can’t create a custom app — this depends on your ChatGPT plan and, on Business/Enterprise, workspace admin permissions. Ask your admin to enable developer mode or add the apps.
  • You’re on the mobile app — open chatgpt.com in a browser, sign in to the same account, and run the migration there.
