# Bills

> Add the receipt behind a transaction so finerd can show what you actually bought — merchant, date, total, and a full item-by-item breakdown.

A **bill** is the receipt behind a transaction. Add it to finerd and a plain line like "Amazon — \$200" turns into something you actually recognize: every item you bought, listed on its own and each with its own detailed category — instead of one rough total for the whole order. The same goes for a WizzAir charge — you see the exact ticket, route, and date, not just "Travel — \$120".

finerd reads each bill, pulls out the **merchant, date, and total**, links it to the matching transaction, and breaks the purchase down **item by item** — so one payment can land in several categories instead of a single guess.

<Tip>
  The real magic is email. Connect your inbox once and finerd turns incoming receipts into bills and attaches them to your transactions on its own — nothing to scan, nothing to forward. Prefer to grab one by hand? You can always snap or upload a bill yourself.
</Tip>

## Why add bills

* **See what a transaction actually was.** Instead of "WizzAir, Travel, \$120", open the transaction and see the exact ticket — route, date, passenger.
* **Categorize down to the item.** A \$1,000 marketplace order stops being "Shopping — \$1,000" and becomes **Electronics \$700, Groceries \$200, Pet food \$100**.
* **Remember purchases later.** A week on, a merchant name tells you nothing. The bill shows what you bought, so you never have to guess.
