# Custom reports

> Ask for any slice of your spending — exact dates, one card, tags, days or weeks — and get a server-side total that matches the app to the cent.

> The app's reports answer fixed questions by month. Custom reports let your AI assistant answer the one you actually have: *this* card, *these* two weeks, *that* tag — computed on the server, in your space's currency.

<Warning>
  **Available only through your AI assistant** — Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with Finerd connected. There is no custom-report builder in the app or in the Telegram bot yet. [Connect your assistant](/ai) first.

## What you can ask

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Any date range" icon="calendar-range">
    "How much did I spend from August 11 to today, by category?" — a day, a weekend, a trip, the 15th to the 15th. The app's reports stop at whole months; this doesn't.
  </Card>

  <Card title="By day or by week" icon="chart-column">
    "Show my spending per day for August and compare with July." Every day in the range is there, including the empty ones.
  </Card>

  <Card title="One card" icon="credit-card">
    "Spending on my Monobank white card last week, by category." The Expense report has no account filter; here the paying card is just another filter.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Tags, combined" icon="tags">
    "Total for the tag 'renovation' from June 1 to September 15." Or two tags at once — *both* on the same transaction, *either* of them, or one *without* the other.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

More that works today:

* "Income, expenses and the result for July in one summary."
* "Average purchase and my 10 largest purchases in August."
* "How much left my white card as transfers to my other accounts in August?"
* "What was the balance on my card on August 31?" — this one uses the account statement, day-accurate for any date.

## Why the numbers are right

Before this, an assistant answered such questions by paging through transaction rows — per currency, summed in its own head, easy to get wrong on split transactions and refunds. Now the total is computed by the Finerd server, in your space's primary currency, from the same double-entry data as the app's reports. We verified it against the app's Expense and Income reports for the same month: **identical to the cent**, per category and in total.

A few things the engine does for you that rows never could:

* **Split transactions** are pro-rated — a receipt split across two categories and two cards is attributed correctly to each.
* **Refunds** count against the category, exactly as in the Expense report.
* **Two tags on one transaction** are counted once when you ask for "either tag", and only that transaction when you ask for "both".

<Warning>
  **Read this before comparing with the app.**

  The app's Expense and Income reports book by **accrual month**: an annual subscription spread over 12 months, or rent paid in advance, lands in the month it belongs to — not the month the money left. That basis has no days, only months.

  Any period **finer than a month** — a day, a week, "from the 11th to the 25th" — can only be computed by **payment date**. So "my September spending by day" and the September figure on the app's Expense screen may differ, and **both are correct**: they answer different questions. On a real space the gap was 4–7% in months with amortized payments.

  Your assistant will say which basis it used. If it doesn't, ask.
</Warning>

## How to check the figures yourself

Ask for **a whole past month, by category, on the accrual basis** — e.g. *"July expenses by category, accrual basis"* — and compare with **Reports → Expenses** for July in the app. The totals and every category should match to the cent. If they don't, that is the most valuable thing you can send us.

## Good to know

* **Transfers between your own accounts.** "How much left card A as transfers" is exact. Where the money *went* is exact only for transfers you entered by hand; for bank-synced transfers the other side goes through *Money on the way*, so the assistant will report the outflow and tell you the destination isn't available in this report.
* **Balances and net worth** are not custom reports — ask for the account statement ("balance on my card on August 31") or the Net worth report instead.
* **Tags on both sides.** Asking for spending "by each tag separately" gives one line per tag; a transaction carrying both tags appears under both, so don't add those lines up — ask for "either tag" to get the true combined total.
* Custom reports are part of the paid plan, like the Expense report.

## Tell us what's missing

This is the first version, and your questions decide what becomes a built-in report in the app. When you write to us, include: the question you asked, what came back, and — for a whole month — whether it matched the app. If your history goes back years, try a question about an old period too.
