# Use Finerd with your AI assistant

> Connect Finerd to Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini and ask about your money in plain language — read-only or read & write, your choice.

Finerd works as a **remote MCP server** — so any AI assistant that speaks MCP can securely connect to your finances. Connect it once, then ask about your spending, generate reports, and even add or edit transactions — in plain language, in any of your chats.

<Accordion title="What is MCP?">
  **MCP (Model Context Protocol)** is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to outside tools and data over a secure, permissioned link. Instead of copy-pasting numbers into a chat, your assistant talks to Finerd directly — reading your real data and, if you allow it, making changes — while you decide how much access to grant. Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini all support it.
</Accordion>

<Tip>
  Partner-friendly and private by design: your AI only sees the Finerd space you connect, you choose read-only or read & write at sign-in, and you can disconnect at any time. Finerd never lets an assistant move real money.
